Froyo finally finds its way north!
For some insane reason, purveyors of froyo have foresaken us semiURBAN folks north of Boston (Cambridge not included). There just haven’t been any spots on the North Shore to find a froyo fix. There’s no Berryline, no Pinkberry, no anything. But that’s about to change big time. Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is opening up in several semiURBAN spots and we couldn’t be happier. Orange Leaf is like Pinkberry, but self serve, so you can create your own concoction with as many toppings as you like. You pay what it weighs. So no small, medium or large. You can buy a single bite if you like, which frankly is all we need sometimes. Yeah right!
We walked by their future Salem home this afternoon while strolling around town, and signs are in the window. (It will be at 76 Lafayette Street, next to Howling Wolf Taqueria), and while the picture below may not look like much right now, soon it will be bright, cheerful, and bustling with activity. This is fantastic news, and not just because it’s replacing the Segway tours place (we don’t get the Segway thing…just walk, it’s better for you). We’re happy, cuz we need a lower calorie dessert option before the beach months arrive. We’ve got winter waist happening, and it ain’t pretty. But it will be.

Green Leaf Frozen Yogurt will soon take over the former Segway tours space at 76 Lafayette Street in Salem.
And it’s not just Salemites who are getting in on the froyo action. The first location is already up and running in Andover, just a few blocks from the commuter rail, and Newburyport will soon be serving up spoonfuls as well. We love when the semiURBAN love is shared, and we look forward to sharing some strolls with a nice cup of froyo from each location soon.
Details. Green Leaf Frozen Yogurt. Andover (28 Park Street – NOW OPEN); Salem (76 Lafayette Street – coming soon); and Newburyport (34 Market Street – coming soon).
